2nd International ROBOTICIST FORUM
Robotics Science Global
Robotics is shaping the jobs of the future. Robotics can improve efficiency and quality, reduce costs and help create new jobs. Given its importance, robotics has recently become the focus of interest at universities worldwide. This has led to the development of numerous degree programs in robotics, research and knowledge development. What is lacking is collaboration and cooperation to improve synergy among initiatives. To promote collaboration between universities in the field of robotics, the second International Robotics Forum asks the question: How can we teach, research and transfer knowledge about robotics together worldwide?
Building on the success of the first International Robotics Forum
The first International Robotics Forum was held in Schweinfurt, Germany, on January 17-18, 2019. The main discussion question was: what should academic robotics education look like?
The results of the forum have contributed to the establishment of a bilingual bachelor’s degree program in robotics at the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences starting in 2020. The program has become a great success and will have more than 200 students starting in 2023. The state-of-the-art Center for Robotics (CERI) helps THWS combine research and teaching in innovative and effective ways.
As one of the five TWIN programs at THWS, the robotics program has also become a key element of the university’s internationalization strategy. Global interest in robotics has led to questions about how to better collaborate and build partnerships with other universities and industry. These and other questions will be answered as part of the THWS World TWIN project, which was launched in 2022.
With this in mind, this International Roboticist Forum will address the following topics:
- Collaborative concepts for robotics education in a global context
- Expanding transfer services from academia to industry
- Promotion and expansion of mobility measures for students
